A Tribute to Buddy de Franco

£0.00

After discovering this book of jazz clarinet studies, I approached a few of my favourite clarinettists to ask whether they wished to be a part of something I felt was quite special. Buddy de Franco is perhaps one the greatest jazz clarinettists that ever lived having recorded with Oscar Peterson, Tommy Dorsey and Lionel Hampton to name a few. I saw him live once and had the honour of shaking his hands with this legend!

A playlist of these pieces is available on YouTube:

As the book is long out of print, I’d like to request a suggested >> DONATION (in multiples of £5!) << for the set of Ten PDFs of the solo clarinet part and PDF Piano Accompaniments. The money will go towards future fun projects for clarinets and potentially saxes and flutes!

Description

These studies are a great reference to how he played and I am eternally grateful to all the players that took part in this project as they gave their time for free. The book is now sadly out of print, I’ve searched high and low but if you can find the vinyl, the studies were originally recorded by Buddy with an accompaniment (played by Jim Gillis) on guitar.

For this tribute, I took the ten studies and realised a piano part for them. These are now available HERE and as the book is long out of print, I’d like to request a suggested >> DONATION (in multiples of £5!) << for the set of Ten PDFs of the solo clarinet part and PDF Piano Accompaniments. The money will go towards future fun projects for clarinets and potentially saxes and flutes!
